The Golden Rockets jumped out to a 1-0 playoff series lead over the Creston Valley Thunder Cats last night with a 4-3 victory. The road win snatches the home-ice advantage from the Thunder Cats, as at worst the series will be returning to Golden tied at 1-1.
Joshua MacDonald, the Rockets leading scorer through the regular season, continued on with his scoring touch and gathered four points, including three assist, in the victory; the big night also earned MacDonald the first star of the game. Tanner Cochrane was the recipient of two of MacDonald’s assists, and punched in two goals; Cochrane also managed an assist in the bout.
Goaltender James Leonard picked up the win between the pipes for the Spacemen, kicking aside 31 of 34 shots directed towards him.
Game two goes tonight, February 15th, at the Creston – Johnny Buck Arena at 7:30pm. The series swings back to Golden for game three on Thursday, February 17th at 7:30pm. Get out to the Launch Pad and support the Rockets!
