After a short Christmas break, the Golden Rockets jumped back into KIJHL action with back-to-back games on Tuesday (Jan. 3) and Wednesday (Jan. 4).

The Rockets hit the road to face-off against the Kimberley Dynamiters on Tuesday. The Dynamiters opened up the scoring, earning to points by the half-way point of the first period with goals from Tyson Valette and Richard Hubscher.

Golden's Connor Beauchemin got his team on the scoreboard before time ran out in the first.

The middle frame was scoreless, leaving the Rockets to trail by only one goal heading into the third period.

An early power play goal from Kimberley's Ryan Duley widened the gap. The Dynamiters scored two more unanswered goals in the third, winning the game 5-1.

On Wednesday, the Rockets took on the Creston Valley Thunder Cats in Creston.

Once again, Golden was forced to battle back from behind when the Thunder Cats scored two unanswered goals in the first.

Creston Valley extended their lead to three in the second period. But in the dying minutes of the period, Golden came alive, scoring two goals in less than a minute - the first on the power play from Brett DeFrias, and the second, with 51 seconds on the clock from Carson George.

The teams picked up one each in the third period, and the game ended with a 4-3 victory for the Thunder Cats.

The Rockets play in Fernie against the Ghostriders on Friday Jan. 6, and will be back in town on Saturday Jan. 7 for a rematch against Fernie.
