He married his lifelong partner Beant Kaur in 1965 and then immigrated to Canada in 1970. They first lived in Victoria, B.C. and then moved his family to Golden, B.C. in 1972 where he worked at the Donald Sawmill. Ujagar was a compassionate and loving man who found happiness in many aspects of life. He enjoyed gardening and working in the yard. He loved to cook for his family especially the dish saag that he made from plants grown in the garden that he would share with his family and friends. Biking around town was also a passion and he enjoyed riding to the post office to check the mail. He was a man of faith and enjoyed reading the bible and attending meetings at the Kingdom Hall with Beant. They both enjoyed spending their winters in India. Ujagar made anyone he met feel like family. He positively impacted his loved ones, being an exceptional role model to all. He stressed the importance of family, education, and religion and how they are the key to living a fulfilling life.
