Ujagar Ram Summan passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones on August 14, 2018.
Ujagar was born on March 24, 1941 in Multan, India. He completed school and then taught at a vocational college while helping on the family farm. He married his lifelong partner Beant Kaur in 1965 and then immigrated to Canada in 1970. They first lived in Victoria, B.C. and then moved his family to Golden, B.C. in 1972 where he worked at the Donald Sawmill. Ujagar was a compassionate and loving man who found happiness in many aspects of life. He enjoyed gardening and working in the yard. He loved to cook for his family especially the dish saag that he made from plants grown in the garden that he would share with his family and friends. Biking around town was also a passion and he enjoyed riding to the post office to check the mail. He was a man of faith and enjoyed reading the bible and attending meetings at the Kingdom Hall with Beant. They both enjoyed spending their winters in India. Ujagar made anyone he met feel like family. He positively impacted his loved ones, being an exceptional role model to all. He stressed the importance of family, education, and religion and how they are the key to living a fulfilling life.
Ujagar will be sadly missed by his wife Beant of Golden, his sisters Gian (Chanan) of Golden and Gurnam of Victoria, his children Shawn (Anju) of Golden, Kulbinder (Surinder) of Calgary, Guljit (Shushma) of Whitecourt, A.B. and Surinder of Calgary. He will also be missed by his grandchildren Sahil, Priyanka, Rahul, Ayesha, Manisha, Kareena, Rohan, Muskaan, Suhaani, Sachin and many nephews and nieces.
The family would like to thank Dr. Drysdale, Dr. Larsen Soles, the nursing staff at the Golden Hospital, and the home care staff.
