It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Ruby “Irene” Helen Levesque. Irene is survived by her eight children: Joyce, Glen, Gary, Dale, Garth, Grant, Holly and Dean; her 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; her sisters: Evelyn Pruden, Olive Nabess, and Eleanor Chartrand. Irene was predeceased by her first partner, George Francis Elder, brothers George, Alfred, Edward, sister Maryanne and grandchildren Steven and Kaitlyn.
Irene left Manitoba in the late seventies and after moving around BC settled in Golden in 1983. She loved living in Golden and it’s majestic surrounding mountains. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy and she made time for each and every one of them. Another enjoyment was her church. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was fortunate enough to make pilgrimages to the temples at Cardston and Salt Lake City.
We will miss her greatly, she was a good mother and friend.
A Funeral Service was held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Golden, B.C. on Sunday, January 29th with Mr. Kendall Duce officiating. Interment followed in the Golden Community Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Gary Elder, Dale Elder, Dean Elder, Clinton Elder, Kyle Elder and Matt Collins. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 350 – 1385 8th Avenue West, Vancouver, B.C. V6H 3V9, in memory of Irene.
We would like to thank all the nurses and doctors at the Kelowna General Hospital who cared for Irene during her days there.
“This life has now passed away
She is with the Lord today
Enjoying a better life anew
Her memory shall we carry through
Until we again rendezvous.”
