(Skip) to his family & (Bonzai) to his friends
June 4, 1957 – November 14, 2016
Richard was born in Creston, BC to Louise and Reynold Baun. The family moved to Golden in 1963 and built their new home up on the North Bench. He remained in the golden area his entire life, enjoying the peace and beauty of his surroundings and the camraderie of his life-long friends.
Right from the get go Richard and his brother Randy would tinker with mechanics. Richard rebuilding his first carburetor at four or five. They built their own versions of mountain sleds and went into the mechanical business together, creating Motor Tech, a company that gained the respect of customers far and near.
Richard was wild at heart and loved to ride anything with handlebars and an engine. He loved the wind in his hair and on his face.
He also had a love for children and although he had none of his own he supported, loved and mentored the children that came into his life.
His generousity knew no bounds and whatever he had he shared. Richard lived life in the moment, and was happiest around a fire or telling jokes and visiting with family and friends.
He will be sadly missed by his partner of many years Gail Burley, brother Randy (Dawn) Baun, sister Phyllis (Peter Stefiuk), nephews Justin (Jane) Baun, Jordan (Shelby) Baun, Rob (Irene) Hempstock and Tyrone Spears. Nieces Sylvia (Joey) Stabaniuk, Penny (Brad) Grindle, and Joanne (Neil) Mitchell. Great nieces Betty Baun, and Lacey Hempstock, great nephews Bowin Baun, and Darren and Kelsey Grindle. And Gail’s children Luke, Jake (Tristan), and Kelli and grandchildren Emma and Ryder who he was fondly known as Boo Boo. He was predeceased by his father Reynold Baun, mother Louise Baun, sisters Francis Bischler and husband Henry, Eva Hempstock and husband Bob, Llewellen Morden and husband Bob, and Thomas Spears and wife Trudy.
