Patricia Agnes McLaughlin (nee Murphy) passed away at the Golden & District General Hospital on Thursday, November 3rd, 2011 at the age of 77 years. Prayers were recited from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Golden on Monday evening, November 7th, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday morning, November 8th with Father Jim McHugh celebrant. Pallbearers were Patrick McLaughlin, Sean McLaughlin, Jim Murphy, John Murphy, Tom Spencer and Alex Lawson. Cremation followed the service.
Pat was born in Kimberley, B.C. on September 17, 1934 and had been a resident of Golden since 1996. She was an avid stamp collector and also baked and decorated beautiful wedding cakes. Pat also enjoyed gardening and knitting. She loved collectables and antiques and had a small store in Vancouver called “Dovetails.” Pat graduated from St. Paul’s Hospital in 1956 as a Registered Nurse.
Pat was predeceased by her parents, her first husband Jack Gorman in 1960 and her beloved Bichon Frise dog Boomer. She is survived by six children: Moira, Kathleen, Sheila (Dave), Patrick (Maricel), Charlotte and Sean (Teresa); 12 grandchildren; four siblings: Tom (Marie) Murphy, John (Dianne) Murphy, Kathleen (Don) Lawson and Jim (Heather) Murphy; numerous nieces and nephews; her good friend Lisette Poitras as well as her cat “Muffin.”
