Mike Foraie

June 10, 1932 – January 19, 2020
Mike Foraie passed away peacefully on January 19th, 2020 in Golden, British Columbia. Mike was born on June 10th, 1932 in Punnichy, Saskatchewan to Frank and Barbara Foraie. He was one of six, growing up with his siblings Frank, George, Mary, Elizabeth and Alex.
Mike married his sweetheart, Vonda on December 31, 1954 in Cut Knife, Saskatchewan. He worked in construction and followed the work from Saskatchewan to Alberta, then on to British Columbia. Along the way he was a part of building the Trans Canada Highway, which he was always so proud of and loved to share his stories to his children.
During that time, Mike and Vonda moved along with the highway construction, always in search of work. They lived in Golden, Donald, Creston throughout the years, and finally settled in the Blaeberry in the spring of 1966. Mike and Vonda were blessed with their nine children, Joe, Sanno, Michael, Tanya, Vonda, Julie, Ann Marie, Danny and Jennifer.
Besides working on The Farm, Mike worked for local logging companies, including working for his son, Joe. He was well known for much of the backroad building surrounding Golden.
Mike will be lovingly remembered by his children, Tanya (Blair), Vonda, Julie (Kris), Ann (Kevin), Dan and Jennifer, his grandchildren, Samantha (Siya, Daygen Alexandria), Bobbie-Jo (Aiden, Kole, Landyn, Jade), Brandy (Lincoln, Tristan), Michael (Emma, Ava, Joseph), Tessa (Hunter, Prezlie, Beuxy), Sarah (Savannah), Tarin (Mataeo, Liam), Cody, Reyd and Emilio; his sisters Mary Skawski and Elizabeth Brisebois; his brother Alex Foraie, his many neices, nephews and extended family as well as his friends.
Predeceased by his wife Vonda, their sons Micheal, Sanno (Jackie), Joe (Sue), his grandson Jeffrey and his older brothers Frank and George.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 25th, 2020 at 11 am at St Paul’s Anglican Church followed by a graveside service at the Golden Cemetery, then a tea at the Golden Seniors Centre.
