Annie Rowney passed away at Durand Manor, Golden on Friday, May 21st, 2010 at the age of 86 years. A Service of Christian Burial was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Golden on Wednesday morning, May 26th with Father Jim McHugh celebrant. Interment followed in the family plot of the Golden Community Cemetery. Pallbearers were Annie’s family members. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Golden Food Bank, in memory of Annie.
Annie was born on June 5, 1923 in Golden, and lived most of her life in the Golden area. She was a member of the Order of the Royal Purple for many years. Annie loved to bake, knit and do gardening. She also enjoyed playing bingo and bowling.
Annie was predeceased by her husband George and two brothers: George and Ralph. She is survived by her children: Evelyn (Ron) LaRoy, Marilyn (partner Randy Stewart), Ronald (Margaret) and Georgina (Richard L’Ecuyer); six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; siblings: Luigi (Hazel) Alfano of Nicholson, Hubert (Ann) Alfano of Kelowna, Mary Pagliano of Golden, Dominick (Ruth) Alfano of Marysville, Jean Hansen of Surrey and Yolanda (Frank) Martins of Surrey; sister-in-law Susy Alfano of Golden, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
