April 14, 1932 – July 11, 2020
With heavy hearts, we bring news of the passing of our beloved father, Karm Singh Barn age 88 born in the village of Barn, Punjab, India on April 14th 1932. He passed away suddenly in the comfort of his own home in Golden, B.C on July 11th, 2020.
He is survived by his loving wife Gurnam of 64 years, children Narinder(Amarjit Dhadwal), Belwinder(Carole), Bero/Rani(Bhupinder Gill) and Poppy. He loved his grandchildren Daljit, Gursharan, Gurvir, David, Mandeep, Jason(predeceased), Raymond and Geneeva.
He was blessed with two great-grandchildren Kavi and Aadhi.
He was the eldest son of late Manna Singh and late Dhanti Kaur Barn and brother of Swarn, Charan, late Karmi Bains and Charani Rana.
Karm farmed with his family and later worked in Phagwara until 1966 when he moved to Canada. He worked briefly in Vancouver and then moved to Donald, a small mill town. He moved to Golden in 1973 and lived there until his passing.
Many refer to him as a comrade for his strong political beliefs and involvement, in India. He served as the president of the Golden Sikh Cultural Society. He loved to read and subscribed to multiple news papers and magazines. He enjoyed tending to his garden and produced a local newsworthy tomato and squash.
He provided a helping hand to many friends, relatives, and acquaintances by providing food and shelter as they worked to establish themselves.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and acquaintances.
