Joyce Aileen Gould

Joyce Aileen Gould

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom (Nana Jo) at Vernon Jubilee Hospital, Vernon, B.C.

Joyce was born and raised in Vancouver B.C. and lived in several northern communities before settling in Golden with her family in 1964.

Joyce was the granddaughter of Golden settlers John McHattie and Ida May (Goode) and Armstrong settlers William and Minnie Horrex.

She is predeceased by her husband Roy Gould and her sisters, Shirley and Dell.

Joyce is survived by her three children Leslie van der Meer (Homme), Tom Batten, and Barb Sandberg (Carl), four grandsons and five great grandchildren, six nieces, one nephew and many friends.

Joyce travelled extensively throughout her lifetime and always had many tales to tell of her adventures. She enjoyed family times, lunches with friends, curling and good conversation. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Worthy Matron of Golden Chapter #25 in 1970-71 and a member of Lansdowne Chapter 72 in Enderby.

In 2001, Joyce retired to live at Abbeyfield House in Armstrong B.C.

The family wishes to thank all the people of Abbeyfield House who provided Mom with support and care. A special thanks to Esther Webb for being our “Mom’s Mom”.

We also wish to thank Dr. M McKnight of Enderby and the staff at the Vernon Hospital 3 West for their care and compassion towards Mom and our family during a difficult time.

Thank-you to Interior Health for Everything.

Thank-you to the Order of the Eastern Star for their love and support.

Gone from us to her loved ones gone before, but Mom you will be forever in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life Tea will be held May 15, 2010 at 2 PM at Abbeyfield House (3725 Wood Ave, Armstrong B.C.). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Abbeyfield House, Box 715, Armstrong B.C. V0E 1B0
