Mr. James Donald (Jim) Cumberland passed away in Golden, B.C. on Wednesday, February 27th, 2008 at the age of 72 years. A Funeral Service was held from the Golden Civic Center on Wednesday, March 5th, 2008 with Sunni Shular LPMiT officiating. Pallbearers were: Eli Suhan, Henry Ricard, Lloyd Wilkinson, Bud Sheridan, Real L’Heureux & Darrel Johnson. Cremation followed the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Golden & District Rod & Gun Club, P.O. Box 176, Golden, B.C. V0A 1H0, or to the B.C. Wildlife Federation, Unit 101–3060 Norland Avenue, Burnaby, B.C. V5B 3A6

Jim was born in Cranbrook, B.C. on June 8, 1935 and had been a resident of Golden for the past 50 years. He was a great outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed playing fastball. Jim was an active member of the Golden Rod & Gun Club for many years. He was an accomplished welder and was well recognized for his welding ability. Jim was a friend to many and someone others could always count on. If Jim said he’d do something it was a guarantee he’d keep his word.

Jim was predeceased by his parents and his spouse Jean in 2000. He is survived by one daughter: Shelley Cumberland of Iroquois, Ontario; one son: Jay (Jaclyn) Cumberland of Midway, B.C.; three granddaughters: Cassie Lewis of Iroquois, Ontario, Kaitlyn and Brianna Cumberland of Midway, B.C.; one sister, Doreen Johnson of Windermere; Jean’s son: Thomas Dyck of Golden as well as nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were in the care of Hindman Bowers Funeral Home, Golden.
