Mr. James Donald (Jim) Cumberland passed away in Golden, B.C. on Wednesday, February 27th, 2008 at the age of 72 years. A Funeral Service was held from the Golden Civic Center on Wednesday, March 5th, 2008 with Sunni Shular LPMiT officiating. Pallbearers were: Eli Suhan, Henry Ricard, Lloyd Wilkinson, Bud Sheridan, Real L’Heureux & Darrel Johnson. Cremation followed the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Golden & District Rod & Gun Club, P.O. Box 176, Golden, B.C. V0A 1H0, or to the B.C. Jim was born in Cranbrook, B.C. on June 8, 1935 and had been a resident of Golden for the past 50 years. He was a great outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed playing fastball. Jim was an active member of the Golden Rod & Gun Club for many years. He was an accomplished welder and was well recognized for his welding ability. Jim was a friend to many and someone others could always count on. If Jim said he’d do something it was a guarantee he’d keep his word.
Jim was predeceased by his parents and his spouse Jean in 2000. He is survived by one daughter: Shelley Cumberland of Iroquois, Ontario; one son: Jay (Jaclyn) Cumberland of Midway, B.C.; three granddaughters: Cassie Lewis of Iroquois, Ontario, Kaitlyn and Brianna Cumberland of Midway, B.C.; one sister, Doreen Johnson of Windermere; Jean’s son: Thomas Dyck of Golden as well as nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were in the care of Hindman Bowers Funeral Home, Golden.
