George Ellison Estey passed away at the Golden & District General Hospital on Wednesday, August 25th, 2010 at the age of 86 years. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Golden on Saturday, September 4th, 2010 at 1 p.m. with Reverend Derrick Smith officiating. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the East Kootenay Foundation for Health (Durand Manor), c/o 13 – 24th Avenue North, Cranbrook, B.C. V1C 3H9, in memory of George.

George was born in Grand Falls, New Brunswick on June 28, 1924 and had lived in the Golden area for most of his life. He worked for the Town of Golden in many capacities but especially liked working at the arena where he could be found cleaning the ice on the Zamboni with his dog at his side. George also enjoyed fishing.

George is survived by his wife Ruth of Golden; four children: Frank (Annette) Estey of Cranbrook, Gloria (Doug) Hamilton of Airdrie, Alberta, Gordon (Lavina) Estey of Ottawa and Ron (Leanna) Estey of Kelowna; 11 grandchildren: Tannis, Aron, Christine, Tim, Kimberly, Mike, Brian, John, Emmalea, Meara and Aleah; six great grandchildren and his niece Lorraine Hill of Calgary.

Arrangements are in the care of Hindman Bowers Funeral Home, Golden.
