Fern Marion passed away Tuesday June 6, 2017 at the Golden District Hospital at the age of 81.

Fern was born in St. Rose duLac, Manitoba on December 6, 1935. He moved from Manitoba to Ontario as a young boy.

In 1956 he had applied to become a member of the Ontario Provincial Police. In 1957 Fern married Joan Bissonette and together they had 4 children. Fern worked in the gold mines of Kirkland Lake Ontario until 1969. He travelled West looking for a different type of work. Found some work in Fernie BC at the Coalmines. Later in 1969 he come to Golden, liking the beautiful mountains and scenery. He bought a house and settled down. Fern found work at Evans Plywood Plant, where he worked for 30 years until retirement.

Fern and Joan travelled for some time and enjoyed meeting new friends. Fern volunteered with numerous projects around Golden. His proudest work was building the Golden Pedestrian bridge. Many hours volunteered and making many friends around the world.

His wife Joan of 58 years passed away June 26, 2015. Now together again at last.

He will be remembered by his four children. Michael (Francine) of Quebec, Patrick of Golden, Roger (Christine) of Calgary AB and Linda (Rob) Hoffarth of Drayton Valley AB. Seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren and many relatives and friends.

Celebration of Fern’s life will be held at the Pentecostal Church, Golden BC on Wednesday June 14, 2017 at 11 am.
