Marie Fernande Simonson passed away peacefully in hospital in Kamloops on September 28th, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at the Catholic Church of Sacred Heart in Golden at 10:00am on Saturday October 1st, 2011 with Father Gabriel officiating. Music was provided by the Sacred Heart Parish Choir and tributes offered by Fern’s children, Phyllis Peel and Raymond Simonson. Serving as Pallbearers were Fern’s sons Raymond, Robert, Vincent, Paul, Roger and Marc. Internment followed immediately at the Golden & District Cemetery and a luncheon followed at the Golden Seniors Centre.
Fern is survived by 9 children: Raymond (Monica), Kitchener, ON; Robert (Leanne), Golden, BC; Vincent (Adele), Golden, BC; Paul, Cranbrook, BC; Michel, Vernon, BC; Roger, Calgary, AB; Marc, Mackenzie, BC; Phyllis Peel, Kamloops, BC; Jacqueline (Roland) Doering, Royston, BC as well as 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Fern was predeceased by her siblings, Roger, Jacques and Therese as well as her husband Halvor, her son George and her grandson Liam.
