Mr. Emilio Provenzano passed away at the Golden & District General Hospital on Tuesday, October 30th, 2007 at the age of 86 years. Prayers were recited from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Golden on Friday, November 2nd, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday afternoon, November 3rd with Father Rudy Badiola officiating. Pallbearers were: Emilio Provenzano, Jason Provenzano, John Provenzano, Andrew Provenzano, Mario Mastroianni, Frank Mastroianni, Frank Folino and Pasquale Longo. Honorary pallbearers were: Mario Pecora, Harry Dimaulo, Gino Folino, Jared Wood, Frank Longo and Robert Parker. Interment followed in the Golden Community Cemetery. Flowers are acceptable.


Emilio was born in Savuto, Cosenza, Italy on November 4, 1920 and had been a resident of Golden since 1955. He worked for C.P. Railway as a sectionman for 26 years. Emilio loved gardening, both vegetables and flowers and grafting trees. He was an accomplished carpenter and enjoyed making things for his family and friends. Emilio enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren, and in his younger years was an avid hunter.


Emilio was predeceased by one brother and one sister in Italy and sister-in-law Angelina Fata of Golden. He is survived by his wife Rosina of Golden; two sons: Giovanni (John) and his wife Ida of Golden and Frederico (Fred) and his wife Lina of Calgary; seven grandchildren and one sister in Italy.
