It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Edith Mary Johnson, a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother at Durand Manor, Golden B.C. on November 8th, 2014. She was born in Parson B.C. on February 4th, 1927 to Calvin and Janet McCaull, the 4th of 8 children – 7girls and 1 boy. She spent her childhood in Parson and finished school at 13 years old with a grade 9 education. She worked at various jobs, cooking in logging camps and cafes. In the early 40’s she worked at the Cranbrook hospital and then at the hospital in New Westminster, B.C. as a nurses aid where she preformed some of the duties of an R.N., wearing the nurses uniform and cap. In 1946 she nursed at the Revelstoke hospital. Nursing was her passion! She married Clayton Johnson in 1948 and they raised 5 children. She did family genealogy for 60 years, before it was a trend. She held the position of postmistress at the Parson P.O. for 27 years. She had the H&R Block franchise in Golden B.C. for 29 years. She planted trees for 2 seasons and for a few years she was a beekeeper and sold honey. She loved to spend quality time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to dance, quilt, knit, take pictures, and had a love for the outdoors – fishing, hunting, berry picking and snow machining. At age 70 she went tandem paragliding from Mount 7. She is survived by her husband Clayton, daughter Jeni (Garry) Brock and 2 sons, Jerrie (Nancy) Johnson and Lyle (Alaina) Johnson. Also survived by 6 grandchildren David (Laura) Brock and Cheryl Brock, Tonya (Dean) Udsen, Aaron (Theresa) Nighswander, Gray Johnson and Tori Johnson and 11 great grandchildren, Derek Kofluk, Katie, Kelly and Deverne Brock, Jayde Smith, Talia, Marilea and Rhett Udsen, Somer, Jenna and Tianna Nighswander. Also survived by 5 sisters, 2 brother in laws, 2 sister in laws, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and special friend Elsie Hansen. Predeceased by her son Ralph in 1970, her son Ron in 2010, her parents Calvin and Janet McCaull, sister Bertha Doumnoff and her brother Bruce McCaull. A memorial service was held on November 15th, 2014 at 2:00pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Golden, B.C. with a tea following at the Seniors Centre.
