It is with deep sorrow that the family and friends of Eddi Huxley announce her passing on Friday, May 7th, 2010. Eddi was born on May 8th, 1937 in Edmonton, Alberta. She was raised in a rural setting in Westlock Alberta. It was there that her brother Dewey Johnson, being the older brother, brought home a young man who fell in love with this brown eyed beauty. Eddi and Dale were married in Westlock in 1955 and eventually settled at eight mile. Tragedy struck in 1973 when Dale was killed in the bush. Eddi was kept busy with her five children, to whom she devoted all her time and energy through their growing years.
These years were challenging for Eddi. She met these challenges with her loving, compassionate nature, being there in every way for her own children, and welcoming their friends to spend time in her home.
Her kindness and understanding prevailed as the sensitive guiding principle while her family grew and matured.
Her love of little ones was fed by babysitting others kids, teaching kindergarten and working with children in the school.
Music, art and creative endeavors were all a part of Eddi’s life, a side of her life that she more fully explored in later years. But at the end of the day we knew that her favorite spot was in the garden with her family and friends.
Eddi will be lovingly remembered by her five children: Rick (Holly) Huxley of Golden, Tammy (Edward) Bertschi of Calgary, Shane Huxley of Nanaimo, Karen (Dave) Handford of Red Deer and David (Alexis) Huxley of Ladysmith: four grandchildren; Joey, Daniel, Breanne Huxley and Linaya Bertschi: as well as many special friends and family.
