Douglas Alan Dunbar

Douglas Alan Dunbar

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Douglas Alan Dunbar on Sept. 28, 2011.

Doug was born in BC, growing up in North Vancouver and White Rock.  He served a three year tour with the Canadian Navy.

Although he raised his family in Golden, BC, he worked around many areas of the province as a driller, blaster, miner and logger.

He was a well known R.O.W.P. in the Shuswap area for his Septic system skills and gained respect for his good work, honesty & for his gentle kind ways.

Doug mentored many persons. As well as being an accomplished pianist, he had a passion for reading and knowledge and was well known for his dry humour. Being a  spiritual man, Doug always said, “We should be thankful for every new day.”

Doug leaves to grieve his wife, Sherran, his daughters, Cathy (Chilliwack), Norah (Hope), and Christina (Kurt) of Calgary, stepdaughters Andrea (Rick) of San Jose, CA and Leisa (Francois) of Surrey, BC as well as  his sisters, Dorothy (Ray) Jensen of Port Coquitlam, Carol (John) Foster of Penticton, many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Eagle Bay Community Church, (approx) 4700 Eagle Bay Road, Eagle Bay, BC  (east of Sorrento) on Oct.15 at 2pm. Refreshments to follow…..
