Daniel Albert Vandenbilche

passed away at the Golden and District General Hospital on Friday, February 1st, 2008 at the age of 76 years. A service of Christian Burial was held from the Chapel of Hindman Bowers Funeral Home, Golden on Wednesday afternoon, February 6th, 2008 with Father John Kellogg officiating. Interment followed in the family plot of the Golden Community Cemetery. Flowers acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to the Durand Manor Foundation, P.O. Box 260, Golden, B.C.

Danny was born in Poperinge, Belgium on December 1, 1931 and had been a resident of Golden since 1968. In 1947, he and his family were one of the first to immigrate to Canada after World War 2. Danny lived in the valley for over 50 years and could almost always be found fishing and camping on one of the local lakes. He enjoyed watching sports on T.V. and doing his carpentry work. Danny was predeceased by his parents and by one son, Darrin in 1998. He is survived by his life partner, Margaret Johnson of Golden; two sons: Jerry (Rob) of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and Mike of Brooks, Alberta; two grandchildren: Braydon and Justin also of Brooks and siblings: Willy (Doris) Vandenbilche of Golden, Prosper (Simon) Vandenbilcke of Alymer, Ontario, Godfried Vandenbilcke of Tillsonburg, Ontario; Godlieve (Mike) D’hoine of Mount Brydges, Ontario and Agnes (Gustaf) Develter of Tillsonburg, Ontario and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving Danny are Margaret’s children: Jerry Johnson (Kathy Hicks) of Golden, Lewis (Sandra) Johnson of Prince George and Judy Johnson of Summerland; grandchildren: David Johnson of Cranbrook, Samantha and Melissa Johnson of Golden, Jessica and Nicole Johnson of Prince George, Donny, Ronny and Jamie Flynn, all of Hazelton.

Arrangements were in the care of Hindman Bowers Funeral Home, Golden.
