Caroline Marie Kemp passed away at the Golden & District General Hospital, with her family by her side, in Golden on Monday, October 31, 2011 at the age of 72 years.
A Celebration of Life service was held from the chapel of Hindman Bowers Funeral Home, Golden on Friday afternoon, November 4th with family and
Caroline was born in Vancouver September 21, 1939 and had been a resident of Golden since 1959. She spent her life giving to others as family and friends were very important to her. Caroline was always helping others and was known as “Mom or Gran” to many in the community. She had a great love for nature and enjoyed spending time outdoors feeding the birds and watching out for the other wild animals that crossed her land. Caroline had many hobbies and some of these included carding and spinning wool, knitting, doing crafts and gardening. She was also well known for her excellent baking especially her bread and buns. She always had a pot of tea on with an extra cup, a shoulder to lean on, a story to tell and a laugh to share.
Caroline was predeceased by her parents and by her first husband, David Elliott. She is survived by five children: Becky (Don) Kamstra of Golden, Joe (Jenn) Elliott of Golden, David (Michelle) Elliott of Thunder Bay, Ont., Peter (Yvonne) Elliott of Winnipeg and Sam Rudiaschy of Golden; nine grandchildren: Jeremiah (Rachelle) of North Vancouver, Kimberly, Carson and Katelyne, all of Golden, Landon of Cranbrook, Chiara of Thunder Bay, Ryan and Chelsea of Winnipeg and Bethany of White Rock; two great grandchildren; Sydney and Tyler of Nanaimo, Aunty Gladys Devaney of Powell River, Cousin Charlotte, Gabriola Island, various nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as her dear friend Brenda Muir of Golden.
