Betty Holland

September 23, 2021
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our wonderful Mother, Grandma, Sister, Aunty and Friend, Betty Holland on September 23, 2021. And like the stubborn woman she was, she fought so hard until the very end. She passed away peacefully listening to her beloved church hymns surrounded by family. Betty is survived by her brother George (Jo), her two sons Len (Jerrie) and Mark (Tammy), her granddaughter Madison (RJ), and grandsons Rhett (Emma), Brent (Chelsea), Ryan and Spencer, many nieces and nephews and an endless amount of friends.
Betty never lost her independence, which she was very adamant about. At 85 years old, she still lived on her own and had her driver’s license until the day she was admitted to the hospital. Betty’s life was Golden. She loved her town and all who resided there with a ferocious passion. If anyone ever needed anything done, Betty was your person. She could commandeer an army together for whatever cause, calling everyone and then some, in her phone book. If you knew Betty, you know that if you missed her call and immediately tried to call her back, you were out of luck because she had already moved on to the next person.
Grandma left behind so many people who loved her dearly, however we’re so happy that she’s finally been reunited with all of her sisters and the love of her life, husband Leonard, better known as Papa to many of us. She was a magnetic woman who left a positive mark on everyone she met. She will be so deeply missed.
Thank you so much to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital for being so incredibly accommodating and for finding us a private room so that we all had the chance to be with Grandma in her final moments. Thank you to the amazing nurses and doctors both in Golden and Cranbrook that were so incredibly kind and compassionate, and for being so great with Grandma in the final week of her life.
Even during a COVID crisis you all made it feel as though we were the most important people in the entire hospital. We’ll be forever grateful.
Due to COVID, the family has decided to postpone Betty’s Celebration of Life until Spring of 2022. Further details will be coming in the new year.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in Betty’s name to a charity of your choice or to one of her passions such as the Stars Air Ambulance or Special Olympics in Golden (SOBC).Obituary
