Baldur came to live in the Columbia Valley in 1948 where he met and married the girl next door, Beverly. Theirs was an unconditional love, through 57 years of marriage. There have been many good times and a few sad, they supported each other through it all. Dad loved being with his family and loved having them around.
To Mom, us kids, grandchildren, extended family and friends, Dad was a Rock. Dad was the one we all came to or phoned. Dad didn’t have to say much, just his presence alone was the
comfort we needed.
Dad had a great joyful laugh that went along with the twinkle in his eyes. Dad loved to tease especially Mom. No one could laugh harder at his own stories or jokes, whether it was the first time or the umteenth time.
Baldur the name is as unique as the man it was given to. Baldur had a way with people that left a lasting impression on everyone who met him, however briefly. Baldur the Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Friend and Neighbour was reliable, hard working, generous with his love,
time and advice.
In Norse Mythology, Baldur was the
‘God of Love & Kindness’ as he was to us all.
He will be missed.
