RCMP Report: Police receive calls for thefts and assaults

Two males were arrested after police responded to a call that the two had allegedly broke into a house and assaulted another male.

Another week with less calls to police

The Golden-Field RCMP responded to 75 calls for service this week, down 13 from the previous week.

Calls for service included, but were not limited to 13 collisions, nine traffic complaints, six reported thefts, and five abandoned 911s.

Two vehicles broken into in Donald

Police are investigating after receiving a report on January 8 that two vehicles had been broken into while parked on Donald Forest Service Road.

The first complainant advised that a window had been smashed out of his vehicle and an avalanche beacon was stolen, while the second report received indicated that the vehicle had been broken into and a number of items including clothing, avalanche equipment, a computer, and assorted food items were taken.

Copper wire stolen from local business

The Golden-Field RCMP were called by a local business on 10th Avenue South on January 8, after they reported that surveillance footage showed two people entering their yard, removing what is believed to be copper wire.

Police continue to investigate the theft and are trying to determine who the suspects are. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Golden-Field RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

Dispute gets loud at local residence

On January 9, the Golden-Field RCMP responded to a disturbance between two males at a residence on 8th Street South.

Police determined that the two males had simply been arguing and that the dispute had not been physical.

The two parties were separated and no further calls were received by police.

Homeowners notice electricity being stolen

Police are continuing to investigate a report of electricity being stolen after they were called to a residence on 9th Street South on January 9.

“The homeowner noticed an extension cord had been run from an outlet on his house to the neighbour’s property,” said Cst. Spencer Lainchbury.

Male acts odd, paying bar tab for everyone

The Golden-Field RCMP were contacted by a local bar on January 9 after staff reported a male patron acting odd.

Police responded and determined that the male had consumed two beers before insisting on paying everyone else’s tab at the bar, and then leaving a substantial tip.

“The total bill came to just under $3,000,” says Cst. Lainchbury.

Police were able to track the down the male, who was with friends, and it was explained that he had simply been trying to do good for others.

Suspicious male requires medical help

Police responded to a report of a suspicious male walking on 9th Avenue N. on January 10.

After locating and speaking with the male it was determined that he required medical attention, and he was transported to hospital to be assessed by medical staff.

Two males arrested for assaulting someone in their home

Two males from Golden were arrested for assault on January 11 after police responded to a call that the two had allegedly broke into a house and assaulted another male who was inside the residence.

Both males, a 22 year-old and 17 year-old are to appear in court in Golden on March 7.

Male has license suspended and vehicle impounded

A 25 year-old male received a three day driving suspension and had his vehicle impounded for three days on January 15, after police allege that he was driving while his ability was affected by alcohol.

Officers allege that just before 2 a.m. they were conducting foot patrols downtown when they observed the male start up his vehicle and then accidentally drive up onto the sidewalk.

The male provided two samples of his breath, which resulted in the suspension under the Immediate Roadside Prohibition program.

Male ticketed for driving without insurance

A traffic stop on January 15 resulted in a 22 year-old male from Golden receiving a $598 Violation Ticket for driving without insurance.

Police allege that they first noticed the male signaling a turn near 9th Street South, but failing to turn, before taking a number of alleys to get to a store on 9th Avenue North.

Queries then determined that his insurance had expired in November. The male’s vehicle was also towed.

Male faces impaired driving charge

A 63 year-old male from Golden is facing impaired driving charges after police allege he was driving over three times the legal limit on January 12.

Officers allege that the male was pulled over after police noticed that he was unable to maintain his driving lane on 10th Ave. S., and that after speaking with the driver he was taken into custody to provide breath samples at the RCMP Detachment.

The male is scheduled to appear in court, in Golden, on March 7.
