A three-hour standoff in Oliver ended safely with the arrest of a 31-year-old man on Tuesday, May 23.

Officers were called to a residence in the 6000 block of Kootenay Street at about 3:30 p.m. on reports the man, who had outstanding warrants from Penticton, was hiding nearby.

The man was said to have been hiding in an exterior outbuilding next to the home and in possession of firearms.

After he was taken into custody, several firearms and a stolen motorcycle were seized from the outbuilding.

Neighbouring RCMP resources, along with a police dog, were called in to bring the man into custody.

The investigation is ongoing, according to the RCMP.
