A collision at the Rogers Pass Summit on Sunday evening has blocked the Trans-Canada Highway in both directions.

The incident happened sometime before 7 p.m.; details are scarce.

The Times Review monitors first responder radio communications in the region. Police could be heard calling for a crash reconstruction expert at around 7 p.m. – usually the sign of a more serious incident involving serious or fatal injuries. They could also be heard speculating about a single-lane opening. Although likely, the Times Review cannot confirm these communications even came from this accident scene.

When contacted by the Times Review on Sunday at 7:30 p.m., an RCMP communications worker said no further information was available at this time, but a media release may be forthcoming.

It is the second major MVI closure on that stretch of the highway this weekend.

Update, 8:20 p.m.

DriveBC has updated the incident, announcing the highway re-opened just after 8 p.m. on Sunday evening.
