Golden OR closed for five weeks due to flooding

Urgent surgeries will be diverted to alternate facilities

Flooding at the Golden & District Hospital has closed the operating room for approximately five weeks, according to Interior Health.

The flood was caused by a blocked drain. The entire OR area floor will need to be replaced.

Urgent surgeries will be diverted to alternate facilities, including any deliveries requiring C Section backup.

About 40 booked procedures are being postponed and will be rebooked as soon as possible, says Interior Health.

“We apologize to all patients who will be impacted by this unforeseen closure,” read a statement.

The OR flooring was already scheduled for replacement as part of regular site improvement, says Interior Health. The replacement is being fast tracked as a result of the flooding in order to get the OR back up and running as soon as possible.
