The fundraiser “Giving Thanks to The Golden & District Hospital 2021” raised $34,930 this year, with $19,730 raised online and $15,200 in cheques.
The fundraiser, which is run by the Friends of the Golden & District Hospital, raised the money to buy Spacelab monitors for the hospital.
Spacelab monitors are the adult version of the neonatal monitor, which was purchased with funds raised by the Friends of the Golden & District Hospital in 2020.
“The Spacelab monitors connect remotely with a screen at the nurses’ station allowing the nurses to keep a much closer eye on the people we are most worried about,” read a post from Dr. Meghan Guy, medical chief of staff at the hospital.
“We have a couple of these monitors currently however, when we are busy, the nurses need to be able to monitor more people at once so that we can respond quickly when there is a change in their vital signs. We really appreciate the Friends of Golden Hospital for supporting this equipment purchase!”
“I am very thankful that I live in a caring community where neighbours helps neighbours and Friends support Friends. A community that cares for it’s newborns and it’s senior and everyone in between,” wrote Keith Hern, a member of the Friends of the Golden & District Hospital Foundation.
“I am extremely thankful that Golden is fortunate enough to have the Golden & District Hospital and Durand Manor complete with compassionate and caring doctors and staff.
“What better way to thank those folk than to join the Friends of the Golden and District hospital and donate a gift to buy equipment that helps them help us.”
Even though the fundraiser is closed for 2021, you can still donate to the Friends of the Golden & District hospital through the Friends of Golden Hospital webpage at friendsgdh.blogspot.com.
