Small business owners often have to take on multiple roles to keep their businesses going, and a new program is helping make sure that they have the proper training to fill those roles.
Between now and March 31, 2014, eligible micro-business (business with five employees or less) owners in British Columbia can receive up to $1,500 of funding support for general business skill courses through the Micro-Business Training Pilot Program (MTB).
Courses, offered through a variety of formats like online, classroom, or even one-on-one, help with skill such as bookkeeping, marketing, social media, and management. The goal is to help these owners improve productivity, decrease costs, and generate new revenue.
Business owners are eligible for the funding if they have fewer than five employees, are not a high school student or a full-time post secondary student, have no university or post-secondary credits, and have no provincially, nationally, or internationally recognized certifications.
