Early morning fire destroys building on 14th Street S.

Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze for more than six hours

Golden Fire Rescue received a call around 4:40 a.m. on Thursday, May 23 for an active fire off 14th Street S.

Crews arrived on scene to find a building “fully involved” in flame, says deputy fire Chief Mike Pecora.

Golden Fire Rescue and the Golden-Field RCMP are currently investigating the fire to determine the cause.

The building is located behind the School District 6 office on the corner of 14th Street S. and 9th Avenue S. It did not appear that any other buildings were affected by the early morning blaze.

As of 11 a.m., fire crews were still on scene, though the flames had been extinguished.
