Eagle’s Eye at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort has been nabbed as the fifth best on-mountain restaurant in North America, as voted on by the readers of USA Today 10Best.

It’s a repeat of last year’s results, where the restaurant also finished fifth in voting.

In this year’s edition, Eagle’s Eye finished three slots ahead of the Whitehorn Bistro at Lake Louise, which won last year’s competition. Eagle’s Eye was the top Canadian restaurant, with the Crystal Hut at Whistler not cracking the top 10.

“Soak up the views of five Canadian National Parks while enjoying salmon, elk, buffalo and other native ingredients,” writes USA Today about the restaurant.

The contest is a part of an annual series of reader’s choice contests that highlight ski towns, resorts, and restaurants for snow-seekers. In previous years, Kicking Horse has been nominated for best resort, even finishing within the top 10. The resort was not nominated for 2021.

Nominees were chosen by 10Best editors, with a list of 20 options presented by readers, who will chose the top 10.

“Gone are the days when ski-in dining meant a sad, overpriced sandwich and a bag of chips,” reads the USA Today 10Best website.

“These days, on-mountain restaurants are upping their culinary game. Skiers and snowboarders will find everything from craft beer bars to fine dining establishments without having to leave the slopes.”

The Bavarian Restaurant at Taos, New Mexico claimed top prize.
