Lady Grey Happenings

At Lady Grey we look forward to an eventful time between now and Spring Break.

On Feb. 14 several of our students gave presentations at a “You Matter Assembly.”

This assembly was in preparation for our Spirit Day: “ Pink Shirt Day”  where students and staff were encouraged to wear pink to support anti-bullying, anti-discrimination, and anti-homophobia.

We also held a Science Fair Day on Feb. 20  where students displayed their Science Fair projects in preparation for the Regional Science Fair in Cranbrook which was held on February 22 and 23.

Our Grade 7s have completed their cross-country skiing at the Dawn Mountain Trails earlier this month and will be participating in the “Big Day Out” in early March with Grade 7s from Nicholson at Camp Wenman.

This is one of two days to help prepare our Grade 7s for the transition into Golden Secondary School this fall.

A big thank you goes out to our staff, community volunteers and parents who make these activities a reality.

Rehearsals are underway for our play this year called “No Strings Attached.”

Mrs. Calladine and her crew of school and community helpers are busy getting ready for the performances in March.

The Grade 6/7 basketball team is preparing for their first game today against Windermere.

The wrestling team also made a trip to Canal Flats where they had a friendly match with the local team.  They were rewarded with lots of laughs and look forward to meeting the team again after Spring Break.

A reminder that Grade 4 and Grade 7 parents should have received a letter about the Ministry Parent Satisfaction Survey from your child.

Please follow the instructions on the letter to complete the survey on line.

If you need to use a computer or have any questions please contact the school at 344-6317.

In closing, I would like to thank our Parent Advisory Council for all the hard work they do to make our school the best it can be.

In particular, thanks to our PAC and parents in organizing our lunch program and Judy Kardash our PAC President for our School Logo clothing sale.

Field School Happenings

Field has been a happening place!

We have a student teacher from the University of Calgary with us until Spring Break.

We have been taking cross-country ski lessons at the Natural Bridge and now we are taking skating lessons in Golden.

As well, we celebrated being at school for 100 days and Valentine’s Day.  February is flying by and although it’s snowing right now we are excited that spring is just around the corner!
