As the days get shorter and the snow begins to fly, Town of Golden Recreation Services has plenty of ways for residents to stay active indoors.

Alongside some favourites like badminton and basketball, the team has filled the monthly drop-in calendar with a host of fun, family friendly programs sure to appeal to folks of all ages and abilities.

Our long-running parent and tot play program has added a new Sunday date in partnership with the Crux Initiative. From 2 to 3:30 p.m. bring the kids down to the Mount 7 Rec Plex for some fun with runner bikes. The gym is dividing in two with one side for causal play and the other offering a mini ramp course for runner bikes. It’s a great way for the little ones to practice their skills in a safe and warm environment.

The very popular winter walking program now runs four days a week. Recreation services also now offer an open gym time on Mondays and cardio kick boxing on Tuesdays. And, don’t forget about aquafit at the Ramada hotel pool. Town of Golden friendly instructors weave cardio, strength, and flexibility into the workouts.

“We have some great new programs and all the favourites like pickleball, volleyball, European football, family puck and stick and many more,” says manger of recreation services Jordan Petrovics. “With over 30 separate drop-in program times offered throughout the week, the Town is providing numerous opportunities for you to get out and get active.”

Petrovics notes that the Town’s universal pass and drop-in format makes it easy to check out all the great drop-in programs the Town offers.

“We also offer private rentals at all Town operated recreation facilities so if you are looking for a great place for a birthday party or keen to host a gym night with a large group of friends, the space can be used to host your own activity,” says Petrovics.
