With Spring Break in just a few days it’s hard not to think of the snow melting and the warmer days of Spring. We had the GSS band perform at our school this afternoon and then speak to all our Grade 7 students about joining the band next year. The second formal report card also went out today.
Grade 4 and Grade 7 students have now completed their Foundation Skills Assessments (FSA). The FSAs were administered in February to accommodate for next year’s School Growth Plan which must be submitted to the School District before the end of June. Data from the FSAs is one source of information used to plot our school’s course for next year. All grade 4 and 7 parents should have also received a letter with a code to complete their Parent Satisfaction Survey electronically. If you have any questions or require the use of a computer for this purpose please contact the school at 344-6317.
Our Grade 7 boys and girls participated in Big Day Out at Camp Wenman, a couple of weeks ago. The purpose of these days is to get students ready for the high school next year. We would also like to thank Laurie Macdougall, for running our grade 7 boys basketball and Eck Trask for running Atomic Volleyball for our Grade 6 and 7 girls. A big thank you goes out to our staff, community volunteers and parents who make these activities a reality.
Upcoming events include a Performance Arts residency with Motus-0, involving many of our students after the break. In closing we wish all our students a wonderful and well deserved Spring Break starting this Saturday.
At Field School we are gearing up to do a Golden Food Bank drive next week. We have 50 reusable bags from the Food Bank and we know that the people in Field have big hearts so we are looking forward to them being filled! We’ve just finished having some fantastic cross country ski lessons and we’re now looking forward to dance lessons. We will celebrate St. Patrick’s day and then enjoy Spring Break.
