Jackson Hardware said its final farewell last weekend with a three-day sale of everything in the store.

Jackie Jackson, store owner, closed Jackson Hardware on Saturday. She said the past five years have been a good ride.

“We had a business in Calgary, we were Environmental Consultants but we retired and moved to Golden in 2005. We saw that there was a little store for sale that hadn’t taken off yet, so we thought we would buy it.”

Jackson says that owning a business was a great way of getting to know the community. “A lot of really interesting people would come in, everyone has strange renovation problems and you really get to know people. We also love the people that we worked with. We had a lot of fun and a lot of laughs everyday that we went into work.”

Jackson says that for now, their only plans are to stay in the community that they have fallen in love with, relax, visit the grandchildren and do some traveling.

“We may start something up in the future but that would be in a while.”

Jackson says that they appreciate Golden for everything the community has done and for coming out for the goodbye sale.

“It’s not a sad thing, we really had fun doing it and it was just time to move on. But we want to thank Golden for everything, it was a good experience and we had fun.”
