It’s so hard to believe that this summer is more than half way over already. Where has the time gone? Is it just me, or do others feel the same way?

Here we are, just three weeks away from the Golden Museum Fall Faire on September 8, and there are still decisions being made. This year we, will not have lawn tractor racing at the Fall Faire. Sad I know, but we really want to grow the tractor racing and in order to do that and attract racers from out of town we need to make some major improvements to our track which cannot be done this year. We will start the work early next year to make sure we are ready to go for Fall Faire 2019. A huge thanks goes to the Golden racers who have been taking care of the existing track and who are now going to other races to see what we can add to ours, while keeping it safe for the racers and the spectators.

Other than that, we hope that you will come out to join us for the day for all the other regular events like the farmer’s market, which will be set up in its usual location on the street. They come with an amazing array of wonderful goods, handcrafted by people you may know who support our community with their small business operations.

Check out the talented local musicians who will take to the Old Station Stage beginning at 11 a.m. The lineup is similar to last year and the day will begin with The Pickups. We also have Small Town Revival and the Jobin Family joining us throughout the day. We are so fortunate to have so many talented local musicians to spend the day with. Consider bringing your lawn chairs to set up in front of the stage.

The Golden Rotary Club will be in attendance flipping burgers with their usual flair and good humour. It’s a fantastic addition to the faire, and this group does so many good things for our community. Lets support them as they support us. This year the Interact Club will once again join the festivities to take care of the kids zone which will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. with lots of games to keep the little ones entertained.

Faire brochures can be picked up at Save-On-Foods, the Golden Star office, and the Golden Museum. Make sure that you pick up the Golden Star on September 6 to get a full rundown of the day’s events.

If you can grow it, sew it, stitch it, make it, or bake it, we can judge it. We don’t have enough space in the brochure to name all of those things but we will judge whatever you bring. For instance we do not have coconut cream pie in the brochure, but we would judge them if they were brought in. Make sure you drop by the museum to pick up your entry forms and have them filled out when you arrive to drop your items off on the day of the competition. This year, we will require that to be done in advance. We have been slacking a little there.

If you have something you would like to show, and think that others might enjoy seeing it, then drop into the museum to arrange a space to do that.

If you can volunteer to help out at the various spots during the day or for the setup beforehand we would certainly appreciate your help. Call or drop by the museum to let us know you can help.
