A holiday message from Golden Secondary School principal Iris Trask

A holiday message from Golden Secondary School principal Iris Trask

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our students, parents, and greater community a very happy holiday season. Golden Secondary School (GSS) students and staff have had four months of focused learning over a term and a half, and everyone is ready for a refreshing two-week break.

When we return on January 7, we will have two weeks before assessments happen for students in Grades 10 to 12, while students in Grades 8 and 9 will have a regular week of learning. The assessment days for Grades 10 to 12 is January 22 to 26. Monday, January 21 is a regular school day, and then the new semester begins on Monday, January 29.

Early in January, our bands and choir will be presenting their first concert of this school year in the GSS gym. Stay tuned for exact dates and times. Our outdoor education classes will be going on their winter field trips, sports teams will continue travelling to tournaments, and students will have a variety of other special opportunities, such as Live Kicks shows at the Civic Centre. For a small school in a small town, we are fortunate to have so many experiences to offer our students.

We have an amazing school community with wonderful students, and supportive parents and community members. At this time, I would like to thank all of our volunteers who give their time and energy to help make our school so great.

Have a fun and relaxing holiday season.

Iris Trask
