Business Profile: Alpine Auto gives back to the community

By Sarah Wegelin

Located at 803 9th Street N., Alpine Auto Centre is a full-service repair shop offering members of the community reliable service.

Co-owner and operator, Roberta Kohalyk describes the services they provide as “honest and fair.”

“That’s what we strive for,” says Kohalyk, who has been running the business for more than 20 years with husband, mechanic Pat Kohalyk.

With four employees, including one apprentice, the business is close-knit and family friendly. A cozy lounge in the office at Alpine Auto Centre provides a waiting area for people to relax while waiting for their vehicle. Toys and treats are available for kids.

Not only is Alpine Auto Centre a welcoming place for families, they are accommodating for travellers passing through Golden. One traveller describes the service she received at Alpine Auto Centre as fast and fairly-priced.

“We were on a long trip with our fifth-wheel trailer and one of our trailer tires was wearing out faster than the other four. We called to see if they could put the spare tire on and possibly diagnose our trouble; we were told to come right over. Not only did they find the trouble (a loose wheel bearing), but they fixed it, put the spare tire on, and had us back on the road in less than 20 minutes. All this and a fair price to boot.”

Alpine Auto gives back to the community through sponsoring the Golden Minor Soccer Association and they are quick to assist travellers with care and repairs.

Open Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. For more information or to book an appointment contact Alpine Auto Centre at 250-344-2717.
