Izzy Palumbo stars on net for women’s night game on Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day also marked ladies night at the Golden Rockets game on February 14, allowing women into the game for free, and one young woman, Izzy Palumbo, played goal for the Rockets.

The game marked the third last game of the season, since the Golden Rockets were not advancing to the playoffs. Palumbo blocked 36 of the 42 shots on goal by the Columbia Valley Rockies.

Starting the game off, the Rockies’ players Tyler Nypower scored assisted by Jack Lastwika. The visiting team got another goal in by Brennan Nelson assisted by Lastwika again.

Before the end of the first period, the Rockies scored again, this time by Jackson Grosshans and assisted by Fraser McMann and Davin Burton.

In the second period, Rockies players Fraser McMann scored assisted by Chase Hawkins, bringing the score up to 4-0 against the Rockets by Nelson, assisted by Lastwika and Cooper Krauss. The Rockies snuck another goal in the second period, ending it with 5-0.

The Rockets fought back hard, but were unable to get any goals in during the third period.

The final goal was scored by the Rockies by Nelson, assisted by Lastwika and Krauss.

In celebration of Valentine’s Day, women ages one to 101 were allowed free entrance to the game. There was a draw for a bouquet of roses between the second and third period. In the lobby, there were special sales on Rockets hats, clothing, and souvenirs. Regular 50/50 tickets were being sold, and for $1, there was a draw for a Rockets hat during the game.

Palumbo was the star of the game on Wednesday, with Lastwicka being the second star from the Rockies. The Rockets took 28 shots at the Rockies, though none prevailed.
