The Golden Rockets put together one of the team’s strongest performances of the year knocking off the Kimberley Dynamiters on a Tuesday night game.
The Rockets got off to a quick start against the Dynamiters when Conner Beauchemin scored on one of the first shots of the game at 1:47 in the first period. The Rockets did not have to wait long for the second goal as Dallas Flockhart scored at 4:38. The goals kept coming for the home team as Keith Wake netted his 19th goal of the year before the halfway point of the first.
The Rockets ended the first period with three goals on seven shots and used physical play to keep the high powered Dynamiters under control.
The second period was for the most part controlled by the Dynamiters when the Rockets got themselves in trouble after a series of penalties. Rylan Duley took advantage of one of the power plays knocking in goal number 35 of the season.
The Rockets seemed to settle down between the second and third period and got back on the score sheet at 2:30 of the final frame when Jacob Bergeron knocked in an easy goal after a spectacular set up by Conner Beauchemin. The Dynamiters made things close in the last then called a time out in the last two minutes. They made the decision to pull their goalie which backfired when Keith Wake scored his 20th goal in the empty net to make the final score 5-2.
