TERESSA GAREB

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Teressa Gareb in her 90th year. She was born in Golden, BC, on August 7, 1917 to immigrant parents, Rosina and Santos Falbo. Her dad died at a very early age, so her mother and brothers, Carmen and Frank, carried on during the depression years. She married the love of her life, Jack Gareb, in 1936. They built many successful businesses in Golden over the years and were very respected throughout the community of Golden.

“Tre” was a life time member of the CWL in Golden. Her faith and devotion to the Catholic Church was her strength and comfort since childhood. After Jack passed on, her faith, prayers, and church helped her spiritually.

She was predeceased by her brother Carmen, and is survived by her children: daughter Mariam (Pete) and son Jack (Cheryl); grandchildren: Tessa (Jim), Kim (Bryon) and Brent; great grandchildren: Katie, Tricia, Tyson, Jayden and Zachary; her brother, Frank; and many nieces and nephews.

Prayers were recited at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Coldstream on Tuesday, October 16 at 6:00 P.M. Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, October 17 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church with the Reverend Father Martin Peyton, celebrant. Interment followed at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish to do so may make donations in memory of Tre to either the CWL or the Schubert Centre.

Arrangements were in the care of the Vernon Funeral Home.
