It is with sadness that Ron’s family announces his death at the age of 87.

Born in Golden on January 28, 1920, of the late Thomas and Minnie King, Ron grew up and lived his entire life in Golden. He was very proud to say he was from the Columbia Valley, where he ranched for 40 years. A Veteran of WW II (May ’41 – Feb. ‘46) with the “North Nova Scotia Highlanders” and the “Rocky Mountain Rangers”, Ron served overseas.

Predeceased by son Bob 1949, wife of 55 years Frances (Blanchet) 1996, brothers Norm, Howard and Gord and sister Dorrie. Survived by daughter Judy (Michael) and grandsons Russell (Shauna), great granddaughter Brooklyn and Christopher (Deon) and great grandson Eric; son Ron and grandson Martin; sister Thelma Barlow, many nieces, nephews and their families.

Ron’s family wish to thank Dr. Rob Drysdale, staff of Golden and District Hospital, Durand Manor and the Home & Continuing Care, neighbours and good friend Florence (Sparky) Dewart.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 30th @ 2:00 p.m. at the Hindman Bowers Funeral Home (803 11th Ave. ) in Golden with reception to follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Golden Legion (1011 11th Ave. S)


In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Durand Manor in Ron’s memory.
