Robert (Bob) Kane

Nov. 11, 1922 - Aug. 13, 2007

Bob was born in Drumheller, Alberta and grew up in Banff. He finished high school in time to sign up for WWII and upon returning, he met and married Irene. They moved to Golden in 1957. He served for several years on Golden School Board but his real enjoyments in life were his family and music. Whether singing in a barbershop quartette, with the local seniors or playing harmonica, Bob loved every moment of it.

As a tradesman, he had extensive construction experience and was always willing to help and share his knowledge. Despite his many medical conditions, Bob’s quick wit and enviable sense of humour saw him through all but his final struggle with cancer.

Bob passed away in Durand Manor August 13, 2007. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Irene, children Alan (Diana), Jill (Larry) Armstrong and grandchildren Heather and James Armstrong, sisters Jean of Canmore, Dorothy of Peterborough, Ontario and brother Jim of Calgary. He was predeceased by brother Jack of Edmonton and sister Elizabeth of Peck, Idaho. A memorial will be held on September 8th, 2 pm at Golden Legion. Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Kidney Foundation. Either one would be most appreciated.
