Perry Winton Hein

July 8, 1932 – November 5, 2008

Perry is lovingly remembered by his wife Muriel and four sons, Philip (Leslie), James (Susan), John (Kara) and Stephen. There are seven grandchildren, Ryan, Brent, Jordan, Evelyn, Melanie, Sarah and Hayley. Perry was born in Bassano, Alberta, and lived on the family farm until he went to high school in Bassano. In 1952 he came to live in Calgary and entered S.A.I.T. studying architectural drafting and building construction. Perry was a member of the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve and played in the Tecumseh Naval Band for a number of years. In 1960 he bought Cathedral Mountain Chalets in Yoho National Park and operated the business until 1984. During that time he was a member of the Kinsmen Club and served a term as president. He then worked at the Calgary General Hospital until his retirement in 1992. In his retirement he sang in the Confederation Park Seniors Choir and was a White Hatter at the Calgary International Airport. He is survived by his brother George of Drumheller. Perry is predeceased by brothers, Charlie, Ralph and Harold. There are numerous nephews and nieces. The family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Sosnowski for many years of care, and the staff of Forest Grove Care Centre for their care and compassion. A Memorial Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
