Leonard Richard (Len) Franson

Leonard Richard (Len) Franson passed away at Durand

Manor, Golden on Friday, November 25th, 2011 at the age of

83 years. A Private Family graveside service will be held at

the family plot of the Golden Community Cemetery where

Len’s cremated remains will be place in accordance with his

wishes. A memorial reception will be held in Len’s honour

at the family home #8-433 5th Avenue, Golden on Saturday,

December 10th from 2-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial

contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice, in

memory of Len.

Len was born in Edgewater, B.C. and has been a life-long

resident of the Columbia Valley area. He was a member of

the Golden Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years.

Len was a prominent businessman in Golden owning and

operating the Gulf Bulk plant, the Nicholson Store and the

Golden Dairy Queen. He was a trainer for the Old Timer’s

Hockey and enjoyed his time spent with that organization.

Len’s hobbies were camping and curling. Len was

predeceased by his parents, his son Douglas and his sister

Elsa. He is survived by his wife Pat of Golden; four children:

Gordon of Calgary, Sharon (Ray) Wood of Golden, Terry

(Frances) of Golden and Tami (Derek) Colonna of Golden;

11 grandchildren: Stephanie, Jared, Kyle, Andrew, Raelene,

Brandon, Kristen, Ashley, Chase, Alysha and Robynn; four

great grandchildren: Cole, Sophie, Quade and Liem; two

brothers: Charles (Jackie) Franson of Golden and Fred (Betty)

Franson of Golden; sister Ivy Matthews of Victoria as well

as numerous nieces, nephews and good friends. Messages

Cremation arrangements were in the care of Hindman

Bowers Funeral Home, Golden.
