Johanna (Annie) Wilson

Mrs. Johanna (Annie) Wilson passed away at the Golden and District General Hospital, Golden on Saturday morning, December 8th, 2012 at the age of 79 years.

A memorial service was held from St. Andrew’s United Church, Golden on Monday afternoon, December 17th with Reverend Judith Hardcastle officiating. Interment of Annie’s cremated remains will follow at a later date in the family plot of Mountain View (Legion) Cemetery, Golden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the B.C. Heart and Stroke Foundation, c/o Box 612, Golden, B.C. V0A 1H0 in memory of Annie.

Annie was born in Golden on June 29, 1933 and had been a lifelong resident. She loved her time at home and enjoyed her flower gardens. She was very active with the United Church over the years and an avid supporter of their Thrift Shop. Annie was also the President of the Golden Figure Skating Club and a tireless volunteer for many years. Her life was spent helping others and she was known to say “there is always someone out there worse off than me.”

Annie was predeceased by her parents, George and Johanna Richards; her sisters: Lena Phillips and Bertha Brecknell and by her beloved husband, Carl. She is survived by two children: Carrol (Bryan) Kneller of Canmore and Joe (Wendy) Wilson of Golden; five grandchildren: Kyleigh, Austin, Brittany, Philip and Kristian; one great grandson, Spencer; one brother, George (Selma-Jo) Richards of Vancouver and two sisters: Betty Holland and Polly Potter both of Golden; her Aunt Dixie Watt of California as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many good friends.
