Jim Pecora

Mr. Jim Pecora passed away on Thursday, August 16th, 2007 at Queen Victoria Hospital, Revelstoke at the age of 79 years, after a two year battle with cancer. Prayers were recited from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Monday evening, August 20th with Father Ramon Basilla celebrant. Mass of Christian Burial followed on Tuesday, August 21st with Father Don Wilson and Father Ramon Basilla concelebrants. Pallbearers were: Mario Pecora, Orlando Pecora, Danny Pecora, Domenic Marcoffio, Wilson Cowan and Wayne Latremouille. Honorary pallbearers were: Larry Streeter, Gary Greg, John Misuraca and George DeGirolamo. Interment followed in the family plot of Mountain View Cemetery, Revelstoke. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Cancer society, 1633 Pandosy Street, Kelowna, B.C. V1Y 1P6, the B.C. Heart and Stroke Foundation, 2nd Floor, 1212 West Broadway, Vancouver, B.C. V6H 3Y2 or to the Canadian Diabetes Association , 360 -1385 8th Avenue, Vancouver B.C. V6H 3V9, in memory of Jim.

Jim was born in Rovito, Italy on December 1, 1927. He immigrated to Canada in 1934. He was raised in Nicholson, B.C. and moved to Revelstoke in 1946, Jim started working for C.P. Rail at the age of 17 and retired after 41 years of service. He worked as a locomotive engineer in the days of steam and saw the introduction of diesel locomotives. Jim worked his way into management and retired as road foreman of enginemen, Upon retirement, Jim enjoyed his hobbies of snowmobiling, woodworking, ATVing, camping in his RV, and volunteering at the Railway Museum. Jim was also an active member of his parish. He achieved honourary status with The Knights of Columbus and was proud to be a fourth degree member.

Jim was predeceased by his father Francesco , his first wife Emma, his mother Maria, his sister Delphine and son-in-law Gary Maddison. Jim is survived by his wife JoAnn, daughters Susan (Kevin) Richardson and Mary Jane Maddison; son James (Eleanora) Pecora; grandson Jody; brothers: Orlando (Wendy) Mario (Mary) and Danny; brother-in-law Frank Colonna and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim is also survived by two step-daughters, Cindy (Greg) Frey and Kelly (Mike) Roberge and four step grandchildren: James, Jody, Jason and Kate. Jim is also survived by his faithful friend, Monty “The Show Dog.”
