Jewel Letitia Schumacher

of Kaslo, born April 25, 1921 in Hillsboro, Oregon to parents James and Linnie Evert, passed from this life February 15, 2009 at Mt. Lakes Senior Care Centre in Nelson, with her loving husband Ernest (Bud) by her bedside.

Married in 1971, Jewel and Bud fell in love with Golden while on their honeymoon and moved there in 1973. Built a beautiful log home on the 850 acres they had purchased. They moved to Kaslo in 2001 when the winters got too cold for them in Golden and built a lovely home on the lake.

Jewel loved to hike, bike, travel and go on cruises. She really enjoyed her and Bud’s yearly trips to the Oregon Coast, where they walked the beaches for hours. Jewel had beautiful flower gardens, raised great vegetables and loved to cook. She was crazy about St. Bernards and owned three beautiful ones. Jewel loved going to church and loved the Lord with all her heart.

Jewel is survived by her husband Ernest Schumacher, daughters Judy Baldwin and Sandy Des Grange, stepchildren, Kim Codding, Craig Schumacher, Doug Schumacher and Lisa Walker. Grandchildren, Kip Baldwin, Key McMurry and Phil Duggan, one great- grandaughter Kori McMurry.

She will be forever in our hearts.
