GERALDINE ANN GOLDEN (NEE: DURNING)


Gerri passed away peacefully at Polson Special Unit at Vernon Jubilee Hospital July 30, 2007 at the young age of 62 years.


Born July 1st, 1945 in Truro, Nova Scotia, she was the second youngest of six children born to Carl and Phyllis Durning. The family moved to Cranbrook, BC when Gerri was approximately 14. After completion of Grade 10, she worked at Stedmans in Cranbrook and then the family moved to Parson, BC where she was married briefly to Red Gardener.


In 1966 she met Dale Hansen in Golden, BC and in 1968 their first of two children, Lonnie Dale Hansen was born and in 1973 Gaylena Ann Hansen was born. Gerri spent a good part of her life being a loving and caring mom and working at various house keeping jobs to support her family. After meeting and marrying Larry Golden, the couple moved to Revelstoke, BC enjoying fishing and time with their friends.


After a lifetime battle with illness, Gerri spent the last few years in Vernon, BC where her smile and sense of humour charmed everyone in her life.


Predeceased by her parents, Carl and Phyllis; sister, Joyce; and brother, Doug. Sadly missing her are her son, Lonnie (Erin) Hansen of Calgary, AB; and daughter, Gaylena Hansen of Golden, BC. She is further survived by her brothers: Rolly (Betty) Durning of Parson, BC, Ronnie (Christina) Durning of Cranbrook, BC; and sister, Pat Mulholland of Cranbrook, BC.
