George Rowan Langlands passed away at Durand Manor in Golden, B.C. on Sunday Nov. 19, 2006. He was born in Golden, B.C. on April 28, 1915. The only child of Kate and George Langlands Sr. George
attended Lady Grey School in Golden. After he finished school he worked at various jobs around the Golden area including the construction of the Big Bend Highway, the Mine in Field and the Post Office in Golden. After he left the Post Office he went to work at the Department of Highways where he stayed until his retirement. He married Hedye Feuz on Sept. 14, 1941.
George was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Kinsmen Club of Golden. He enjoyed many hobbies but especially liked to carve things out of wood. George and Hedye loved to travel in their trailer around B.C. and Alberta. They also loved to go
camping to Chancellor Peak Campground where they spent many happy times hiking and visiting with friends.
George was predeceased by his parents Kate and George Langlands Sr. and his wife Hedye Langlands. He is survived by his niece Patricia (Harold) Holland of Golden and his cousin Jean Wright of Kamloops and their extended families.
A memorial service was held at St. Andrew’s United Church on Saturday Nov. 25, 2006. Memorial donations may be made to the Charity of one’s choice.
