Adrien Lionel BERTRAND

The family of Adrien Bertrand wish to announce his passing at the Golden and District General Hospital after a short battle with cancer at the age of 54. Adrien was born in Paradise Hill, Saskatchewan and grew up on the family farm at St. Walburg, SK. He attended elementary school in St. Walburg and high school at St. Thomas College in North Battleford, SK. He furthered his education in an accounting program in Saskatoon. He started his working career with Co-op Trust in Saskatoon and was transferred to Calgary. From there, he lived in Airdrie and finally in Golden, B.C. for the last 21 years. In Golden, Adrien worked as a carpenter for several contractors, at Home Hardware and then worked on his own on many buildings and homes in the area and getting to know many people in the community. Adrien belonged to Sacred Heart Parish, was a member of the Knights of Columbus (Grand Knight) and the Trappers Association.


Mass of Christian Burial was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Golden on Tuesday morning, September 26th with Father John Kellogg celebrant. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the B.C. Cancer Foundation, 399 Royal Avenue, Kelowna, B.C. V1Y 5L3, or the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Golden, in memory of Adrien.


Adrien was predeceased by his father, Lionel in 1976, his mother Jeanne in 1990 and brother-in-law Owen Jenkin in 2005. He is survived by two sisters: Jeannette (Carl) Stout of Qualicum Beach, B.C. and Beatrice Jenkin of Saskatoon, SK; as well as three nieces: Laurie Jenkin (Brad Asmussen) of High Level, Alberta, Shannon Jenkin (Jeremy Cornelius) of Edmonton, Alberta and Deanna Jenkin of Saskatoon, SK. He is also survived by numerous relatives and friends.
